DIY infinity scarf

it's almost sweater weather!

(sorry for the fuzziness... i was in a hurry since my camera was dying.)

*** NEW BLOG: Timberwolf . head on over once you've finished here. thank you! ***

so first of all, let me tell you about a few things i love:
  • autumn. gosh, i love it. if i could freeze the world in any season, it would be autumn.
  • sweaters. especially when they're too big for me. big sweaters make me feel small, a feeling i don't really get that much.
  • infinity scarves. they are so much easier to deal with, and i love how they draw the eye up towards the face.
  • the market. i went to the market on yesterday, and i got 2 large pieces of fabric for 1 euro each. it's one of the best cheapo deals i've ever found. i'm going back on wednesday.
there's all sorts of other things i love, but they don't apply to this post.

MOVING ON...

for this scarf, you will need:

a piece of fabric -- cut it to  23 in x 70 in (58 cm x 178 cm)

scissors

a sewing machine (or i suppose you can hand sew it... it will take forever though)

hem the long edges of the fabric. these will be the sides. i did it with a zig zag stitch that went off the edge. it worked nicely.
then fold it so that you are holding the two ends lined up, inside out. (demonstrated at the top of photo). now simply sew it shut there.
turn it right side out so that the final seam is hidden and wear it with pride.

come again soon, i'll miss you immensely.

Handmade Envelopes

for all your handwritten desires.

this is just how to fold an envelope. i prefer making them mini, but i decided for a tutorial, it probably should be a larger example.

start with a SQUARE that is a bit bigger than your RECTANGLE letter/card.
fold the corners over the letter, starting with a short side and ending with a long one.
cut out where the lines overlapped.
fold the sides and then the bottom over them. glue them together. cut the tip of the bottom off where it meets the edge of both sides.
embellish as desired. to do what i did, you can make a Potato Stamp .

THANK YOU MY DEARS. COME AGAIN SOON.

Potato Stamps

easy and cute.

there's no need to go and buy stamps from now on. just grab a potato and a cookie cutter.

cut a potato in half.

then push the cookie cutter through the potato half.

you got a stamp.

3 Ingredient Energy Bars

dates, nuts, and dried fruit -- you choose the combo.

so these are super yummy. and healthy! well, if you eat a lot of them, then i guess they're not. BUT if you eat them in the right proportions, they're super healthy. because all it's made of is nuts, fruit, and dates.

some good combinations would be:
  • cranberry almond/walnut/pecan
  • blueberry almond/pecan
  • cherry almond/walnut
  • apricot pecan
  • apple walnut/pecan

then you could always throw in some:
  • shredded coconut
  • seeds
  • oatmeal?
  • chocolate... >:)
  • honey --------> just an idea... that might make them even stickier, the dates make them sweet already
  • citrus zest

i don't know... just thinking out loud. next i'm going to make some with toasted coconut, walnuts, cranberries?, and chocolate of course.

THE IMPORTANT PART IS THAT YOU HAVE EQUAL PARTS FOR THE INGREDIENTS. then you can throw in some other little things. I did one cup of each.

throw it all in the food processor. I used dates, cranberries, and toasted almonds. (I just threw a cup of almonds on a cookie sheet and put them in for 10 minutes on 175º C [350ºF].)
give it a few pulses so that it looks like this. ^^^ then blend it straight for about 2 minutes and it should sort of collect into a blob and the food processor will kinda stop blending it.
GRAB SOME PLASTIC WRAP, REALIZE THAT PLASTIC WRAP IS STUPID AND ANNOYING AND UNCOOPERATIVE, and go find some good ol' parchment paper.
throw the gook onto the parchment paper and form it.
chill it for at least an hour, then cut it into squares.

then you get to enjoy the pure healthy deliciousness. om nom.

 ALRIGHT DEARS, COME AGAIN SOON!
